Bali- a blend of beach, mountain & money changer scam.

Gotta find the momentum to blog about our Bali trip before I procrastinate too long. I popped the idea earlier in Feb as a suggestion for Valentine's initially, and we got it finalized bout two week prior to the trip. Was xiao pleasantly surprised that it was made into reality :') As much as I promised to keep up with the upcoming submissions immediately after the trip, guess what happened was that I still had some mad last minute rush last week, but it's all over for now.

Never been to Bali before this and I guess I always have this very romantized and magical feeling about Bali islands, perhaps largely accounted by the fanciful ads that portray them as one~ So moment of truth, Yes no crystal clear beach water like Krabi or Pattaya, no cheap clothes like Buangkok, but I guess Bali has its own charm, though we didn't go the the rich heritage sites during the trip, and spend more than half of the time in our own worlds at the private resort, but I truly enjoyed  the four days lost in time and putting everything else aside. :')

Deciding on which resort was pretty easy since I simply chose the place that Joy stayed in on her travel blog, wonder if she will secretly feel proud that I followed her advice in the blog. She put it down that 'When we stepped into our villa, we died. Because it was just sooo beautiful.' I guess I would agree on the part that the infinity pool overlooked the greenery, alongside the private cabana which is just the ideal kind of resort you want to sink into all day long. But, I have to say that the floor was sooooooo hot during the day since it's facing the Sun, and I will always remember Jw and his jumping feets while I was trying to take an artsy shot kekeke. Sunshine aside, it's a good place to indulge in and make money worthwhile, we did tried to jump into the pool everyday, but we probably din't on the last since the day pretty much ended with me half dying in dizziness and short of breath again Oppsy.

Oh sidenote, got the pretty looking knitted-Monokini on Taobao before the trip, it turns out really comfortable but downside is that the knitting tends to absorb the water and get dragged down by gravity. But no harm just to look nice ( in photos ) HAHAHAHA. Back to the sun, we probably got a lil sun burn just from playing around in the pool on the first day, but it's all worth it. *insert macho emoji*

Spend our second morning struggling with surf boards at Kuta beach that's bout 40min drive away from where we stay. A pity that we don't have any photo to offer but I will always get reminded by the amount of sea water I swallowed that the falls I had which I simply lost count. We contacted a surfing instructor that charged us bout 50USD /pax for 2 hours after scanning through reviews on trip advisor before the trip. Guess travellers in general rely a lot on customer reviews today, todoos to Tripadvisors~ It was two good hours of riding (& falling down) the waves, to think back it was really fun and I shall conquer it another time, though to be honest we probably din't grasp much skills to be able to surf on our own by now. But I definitely feel that to learn how to surf generates much more satisfaction from a parasailing or banana boat ride. :') Though by the end of the two hours I was literally sitting on the surf board getting carried away by the waves as it is.

And here comes the unexpected out of the trip - getting scammed by Money changer D; Kind of lazy to elaborate on the whole process but general advice to all is to go for legit money changer and avoid dodgy ones, rates too-good-to-be-true ones, always calculate how much money you should be getting back before going for a money exchanger, and to play safest probably google in advance on possible money scams in the destination you are heading to. Though we didn't lose a huge sum but I guess both of us felt pretty stupid ( Okay more of astonished for myself ) that we got tricked multiple times right under our eyelids. Oh well hahahahahaha, 防人之心不可无~

Woke up even earlier on the third morning bout 5am to hop onto a private tour that drove us all the way to the North of bali where the mountainous areas are, and embarked our lil trek along the padi fields (YAY!) and to our eventual destination - the Sekumpul waterfall~ Weather wasn't unbearably hot and there are surprisingly not much mozzie or insect bites, quite a delightful journey into the fields and all that's missing is probably a conical leaf hat to make me a real farmer. Totally got reminded of the Xueshan journey when we had to go down some hundreds of steep steps into the mountain.  :')

Can't remember if I had ever come across this close to a waterfall of such height before, but soaking myself in it was definitely the first, we braced through the splashing water and went all the way into the bottom of the waterfall and damn, the water is so cooooold man. :'D But still a good experience conquering the lil trek with my 打狗棒~

Along the way Jw asked me 'Where did the water come from?' and as a year 3 geography major I am more than embarrassed to say that I probably learnt it before but I couldn't remember very well. In fact I probably learnt it since secondary school. And I guess this is a flaw with me on many things I have learnt, that I don't give enough attention to it such that they become part of the memory. But anyway to answer to the question today:

Given that waterfall is a river or other body of water that falls steep over a rocky ledge, then obviously~ the water comes from a river. ( Oh no this is such a simple answer, I could have easily fluff it out on the day oh man.) And if we were to look into it further, where does river water comes from, oh well, I guess I knew the answer to this at least, they come from precipitation runoff or groundwater YAY~

Laokui moment aside, look what we have found! An abandon plane that we decide to fly back to Singapore with. Kekeke, happen to pass by this abandoned plane multiple times in the car so we requested to hop over and linger a little while on our way back from the Waterfall, would have climbed on top of it if there were more time but guess it's really dirty and hot.

Fourth day ended really quick since we had the luxury of time to sleep in, and got coaxed into going to the authentically-touristic resort area at Nusa Dua for lunch at, oh well, our own request. At least the food turn out pretty nice, though before we could walk about to scout for a round of massage before we leave bali, the oh-so-familiar dizziness and short of breath situation happened again presumedly because of the Cocktail I had, and the weather probably made it worse. So I guess it scared the shit out of Jw (again after it happened once at Legend, and another in Japan, oppsy.) Trip was eventually wrapped up with a huge beef burger at Hard Rock at the airport before we flew back~

Second trip together, four months apart. I think many things happened during these four months and we have definitely understand each other much better than before. Thank you for still treating me so gently all the time and pampering me thus far, I guess the most notably change comes from my mum on her change of attitude from disapproval to her eventually acceptance ( & probably fondness now?!), it's a huge relieve for me I guess, as compared to the dreadful days having to be stuck in between. Thank you for accepting me for who I am all the time as I expose my vulnerable and careless self, though I believe I should become stronger on my own hmph. Most of all, thank you for letting me learn how to be a better lover.  I believe that there definitely will be rocky days and bad times down the road, but I hope that we will overcome them with continual good communication. With that, may we continue to be each other's best partner in life. :)
