Grumpy thoughts on singles, marriage and kids.

Was browsing through a list of state policies and Family Reports today as one of the modules was touching on it this week. After looking at the history of  policy makings and amendments the state made over the last 50 years, I can't help but to wonder why despite tremendous efforts by the state, billions of dollars thrown into every aspects of life, singles are still delaying marriage, couples are delaying child births in general. All these seems to imply that because the state isn't addressing to the root causes of low TFR and marriage. Yes it might sounds like a cradle to grave approach in alleviating the financial cost of raising a child throughout different life phases From Baby bonus to Medisave for accouchement to Childcare subsidies to Primary one registration priorities to Child Development Account to all sorts of Tax rebates and Paid leave under Marriage & Parenthood package. The Total Fertility Rate isn't showing the least effort to improve.   Then perhap...

( More realistic ) New year resolutions

Attend all lectures.  Keep up with the pace of lectures.  Do pull ups Continue pole dance  Better financial management Do a internship  Dive by 2017 Organised time management  More conversation with mama  Bring Meilin out Love wholeheartedly  Become a better person Read 30minutes a day before sleep Spend 30minutes on news every morning  Exercise 30minutes daily Just a lil add on, since the new semester is starting in few days' time. Not sure how did my supposed motivating self reflection session yesterday took a turn and became little paranoid on how to manage my 24 hours a day, how to stop repeating the same old bad habits of procrastination and inefficiency, but I guess like everything else, worrying doesn't not empty tomorrow of its troubles but empties today of its strength. So, just gotta move forward. :') Gonna place getting fitter as the top priority for the year, for I feel that it's the best present I can give to myse...

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.   - Edmund Hillary  Gotta pen down everything before the the trip get to the back of my mind, and also as a closure for the year. So..here it begins, my virgin trip up an average mountain at a height of 3886m for entry level hikers. Well, technically we began the climb at an elevation of 2000m so the  trail distance was reduced to 10.9km to reach the peak. A short two day one night hike, but it was truly a test of mental fortitude rather than physical strength for me, an unique, thrilling and rewarding experience albeit I constantly questioned myself during the hike: why am I doing this; what am I gaining from this; is all these pain worthwhile etc. Not forgetting all the self murmuring that 'me will never do this again' during the long way down from summit. But as ironic as it sounds, just like what Gerald, our leader told me; mountaineers have short term memories, as much as they can complain for all they wa...
