Laziness has griped the better of me, everyday I am marching a little towards retardation in life. There is no goal to work towards, there is no mission to fulfil. Everyday I spent just enough time for my basic daily internal struggle of what's for breakfast to what's for dinner, every week I start a fresh new page in my note book on the to-do-list at work, every few week I feel the urge to do some shopping, every few month I want to get away from the country for a while. Y' know. Just a really typical life I am living everyday. Good appetite, good health, work life balance, non quarrelsome families, lots of things to be grateful for, cosy home, loving husband, money in the bank, food on the table, clothes in the cabinet. At the same time, no thrills, no surprises, no motivations. I used to be searching for the purpose of life, but the last few months I just gave in and live life as it slips by.  There are colleagues in the office just received their 45th year of lo...

Arc and crate

The world is your oyster, they said. As mentioned briefly in my earlier post in Mar, I have been toying around the idea of setting up a earring blogshop. And I'm semi glad to say that this idea did not fade off with time and I did indeed, launched the website   last weekend, after much procrastination and preparation, I don't even know if it's adequate or not. Having to sparkle off the idea was easy, choosing which earrings to bring in wasn't difficult either,  in fact I don't think it was strategic at all, it was solely reliant on what I predict should be appealing with a lil relation to the trends/color themes for the popular clothes blogshops. But what comes after the shortlisting of products took up a great deal of my time. From choosing the right (read: affordable and pretty ) packaging, to taking product photos, to eventually rolling out the website and currently the social media advertising are not so easy on the other hand. It forced me to make decisions...

Porco Rosso (1992)

Image
To be really frank I didn't except much from this movie when I decided to catch it earlier tonight, all I knew about it was that it's about a pig that flies, as hilarious as it sounds. But it turned out that it's one of the best watched movies I have seen in life. It was such a well-thought masterpiece with a perfect balance between humour and seriousness all at once. It was a movie about egoism, nationalism, militarism, humanity, romance and feminism. And perhaps much more subtle messages that I may have missed. The movie depicts the post WW1 period where the protagonist, a former Italian WW1 ace pilot, Porco Rosso who has seen the mass destruction and lost of lives during his near-death experience at war, was being hunt down by the Fascists government as he turned anti-war and won't fight for his government anymore. The anti-war sentiment and anti-nationalism were brought out coherently via conversations and behaviours of Porco in the storyline. Which could be th...

May.

Hello may. Looks like we are approaching mid year very soon again. Time passed even faster when you started working isn't it? Coincidentally today marks my 7 months mark with LTA. This is pretty much it I guess? Work really doesn't leave much room to engage in anything else, so as much as possible, I  try to exercise the time off mindlessly so make time more worthwhile. Doing something is better than doing nothing, although a lot of time I find myself guilty as charged for doing nothing. Lnr is away for 2 weeks for work at Denmark hence I got to live by myself for these two weeks, much as I thought I would do a lot of things alone, living life like how it might all otherwise been. Sometimes I wonder how life is gonna be if I were single still, that probably means a lot more me time and I will likely pour a big chunk of my salaries into different enrichment classes, travelling to new places alone, spending afternoons at cafe doing people-watching. Oh all these while I am just ...

KANSAI x 11

Osaka Castle, Osaka 2.5 years ago, I went on a sponsored trip with my then new boyfriend to Tokyo, Japan. This April I  went back to the same Oishi land with my now hubbo. Guess this trip has evoked different feelings and take away compared to the last, and as much as I have eventually concluded that it may not be our best trip, but it definitely taught us a few lessons or two in life. I have learnt that it may be for the better to not over expect when travelling, which may possibly result in disappointment. Something that you don't want to feel when you are on vacation. Our chase for the cherry blossom in April didn't work out very well become the weather got warmer earlier than the past years and the Sakura were almost all in full bloom a week or two before our arrival. And eventually what we catch is pretty much depicted as the photo below, petals falling off and scattered on the ground all over. Sakura might have been really beautiful but I also feel that we are b...

Earring muses?

I'm thinking of setting up a blogshop lately. Of all the time I had in my life I chose to run a blogshop when I started working - almost the busiest period of life I have been in. But to defend for myself, it's only now that I'm earning a full time income that I feel comfortable enough to fork out a sum of set up cost, knowing that I will earn it back in no time even if I sunk them all. I'm not really sure where to start off from. There is only a few things I think I might be sure of. I want to bring in earrings that's not commonly sold in Singapore, I want to package and market it as mid priced earrings ranging from $10-$25, I want to have different series of designs that's tailored to different fashion styles / country cultures. And lastly, needless to say I want to make a profit out of this business, although even if it doesn't I hope it will be an unique experience at least. I know there is a lot things to do, a lot of time commitment, a lot of decis...

Hi blog,

Life has been pretty packed and fast paced lately, though this should be no excuse for my lack of appearance here. There are couple of chances which I could have blogged, but I have gave in to slothfulness. Sometimes the temptation to do nothing is just too great. Work's been fine and days been passing rather fast. I had my first Chinese New Year in life giving angbows instead of receiving, an alarming signal that I am truly turning into an adult. Like most, I am happy to be earning a decent sum of money, but I am unable to afford a lot of time, solitude time especially. In my attempt to not let my weekdays nights go to waste, I have signed up numerous classes that supposedly take up Monday to Thursday. I do enjoy the classes but again all's left when I  get home every night is preparing to sleep in. I don't know if this is a good or bad life. Mostly good I suppose. But there is one thing I don't really like about myself which I hope to change. That I have stoppe...
